Documenting The Last Of Us That Remain
The world is watching
as we are eliminated
systematically
The world’s leaders
pay attention
to other’s lives
and even take steps
to protect them
While ignoring our own
Systematically
The world went back to normal
and left us behind
in 1721
Shackled
Chained
Beaten
Whipped
Without resources and aid
How are we to run
As the extremists gain more power daily
Leadership does nothing
except aid them
actually
Blocking us from even talking
about our experiences
They don’t ever even have to explain
Who would they need to answer to
No one questions them about anything
Least of all about us
People just keep talking saying
“Ain’t America Great”
But almost 800K have died here
And I grew up watching my abusers plan it all
before I even turned 18
Still
No one cares
Just like they scapegoated me
for the torture they forced
They blame my entire community
for being the target of their hate
No one cares
But they all say
“America has equality”
I’ve been asking for some
But it’s not for me
“You’re only 13% of the population”
As though that means we should be hunted
trafficked
children sold
shot in the streets
eradicated
and scapegoated
systematically
The consequences have only jsut begun
Much like this insurgency
America won’t even hold them accountable
After all
White rage is always received
justifiably
They don’t even need hoods anymore
They just take what they want
They never have to wait
Leadership watches and does nothing
“Fix your own problems”
But we didn’t create any of them
They all came from YOUR
Most Dangerous Game
Why is it that THIS
is taught in school
But not history
America teaches children how to hunt people
But not to defend yourselves
When hunted
systematically
But we’re supposed to believe
that our best interests are being served
And if you are Black
You can’t get angry
White people get angry
and gain states
When I began this journey
I said I was documenting the last of us
who remain
That was over a year ago
Look how far down the drain
chaos has taken us
But not all
Only the descendants of slaves
Telling our story
as we are siphoned out of existence
With nothing but
silence
Is in now way
gratifying or heart warming
It’s tragedy
“Democracy Died With A Whimper”
and no one cares
about the toll it takes
on our entire community
Particularly the most vulnerable
No one ever cared
and nothing has changed
It’s always been this way
“Why is it taking so long”
Because no one cares
It’s always been this way
I push forward anyway
COWARD
AND
TREASON
are not in my DNA
We were only 13% of the population
Before COVID
I feel the silence
in the absence of those lost
I feel the pain of all the loved ones
coursing through my veins
I feel the sadness of the community
Attempting to cry out for humanity
and aid
Cries going ignored
Just like in the 1980s
When Black life across the planet
went through the very same things
“We want to control who incarnates here”
And so they did
DON’T EVER COME BACK TO THIS PLACE
EVIL LIVES HERE
AS WELL AS A VIRUS THAT WILL EAT AWAY
AT YOUR BRAIN
The silence of no reaction
Is the worst pain
thus far
It turns out torture
actually had another gauge
The worst part
It never had to be this way
