Survivors of abuse need resources, that shouldn't be a question. Let the abusers pay for them, but the nation should also protect its people. Services that are currently in place should be fully funded but streamlined so that the majority of the funds goes to the clients, not the running of the program. Since the 1960’s the goal of the U.S. has been to have programs that comply with federal law, and create jobs. Not necessarily to help survivors, this is blatantly obvious by the fact that programs continue to go under or unfunded. There is just no excuse for not providing for people, particularly after they have survived heinous crimes, particularly when the crime was neither prevented nor investigated. The pattern of blaming survivors of crimes as being somehow complicit with the crime and therefore unworthy of protection is so utterly archaic. Humans must evolve beyond such primitive rituals, no amount of hurt feelings can change this.

Humans have inalienable rights for a reason. No one’s cognitive dissonance should interfere with anyone’s ability to live, thrive, be a whole individual. To pursue love and life just like any other human. The abusers have controlled the narrative for far too long, it’s time the targets of the abuse took the reigns. We’ve already seen what toxicity creates in the world, let’s look at other options. It’s not hard, people are just afraid.

We can’t all continue choosing the same destructive path and expect different results. Humanity is symbiotic, this will never change. The more we embrace the healthier we will be as a whole, the more we reject the more sickness and decay take root. We can do a much better job with this planet than we have ever even tried, now is the time!

Together.
