Reality Check Poetry

Performative politics

Pretending you’re not sick

Pretending to care

Hiding resources

Transferring wealth

Claiming systemic oppression is fake

While clearly supporting the system

That keeps Black lives in place

Five decades yet everything remains the same

“It’s your own fault”

Is what they claim

As they deploy tradecraft, ai, advanced weapon

And the militarized police

Making sure we can’t move forward

Always held in place

While claiming enslavement is fake

“It’s not about race”

But you focus on it in every way

“The ‘right’ people will be okay”

You say

While simultaneously claiming

“It’s just about hurt feelings”

Yet other’s feelings are priority

Performative politics

“We work hard to make everything okay”

But when was the last time YOUR kid

Cried themselves to sleep because of oppression?

That’s not a personal problem

It’s systemic racism

Yet you claim we do it to ourselves

Therefore nothing needs to change

Human life is not a game so we’re not playing

Human rights are inalienable

This is not a negotiation!
