I can’t be molded

But I can compromise

I won’t be controlled

But I welcome protection

I don’t want to experience

More dead ends

I want support

I give it in abundance

I’m tired of being lied to

Manipulated

I can be a friend

But not an object

I can speak

I have my own opinions

I’ve held them within for decades

I want to be me

Along with

I don’t want to be controlled

Or bought

Or pushed

Or pinned in

I’m already experiencing those consequences

What I want is equality

In every aspect

I know who I am

What I bring

What I give

I won’t be depleted again

After so many years

I don’t want to be less than who I am

It’s about honesty

Authenticity

Integrity

It’s about being me

Authentically

I don’t want to EVER relinquish that freedom
